It takes an army to make a change in the state of the planet. Who has these armies? Celebrities. Here are some celebrities who recently and frequently use their platform to promote a green agenda.
Most recently, it has been revealed that the new and popular song ‘Guess’ by Charli XCX ft. Billie Eilish, who were showered in bras and underwear in their music video, will be donating all the undergarments to support victims of domestic violence. The two stars donated over 10,000 undergarments to the charity.
Actress, Shailene Woodley, is an environmental activist who openly promotes to protect the environment. She has partnered with large environmental nonprofits and held the title of Green Peace Ocean Ambassador in 2019, which helped prevent plastic wastage and pollution.
Famous actor Leonardo DiCaprio has been a noted environmental Hollywood activist for decades. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation began in 1998 and targets issues in the environment such as protecting endangered species. The group has dispensed $80 million in grants throughout the foundation's existence. DiCaprio also uses his large platform to raise awareness and influence his following. On top of this, the documentary “The 11th Hour” which was produced and written by the actor about global-warming and was a part of one of the highest grossing charity projects of all time.
Meryl Streep is another green actress that deserves recognition for her advocacy. Since the 1980s, she has worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council. On top of that, she is a co-founder of a foundation that raises awareness and support for organic agriculture called ‘Mothers and Others.’
Ben Affleck has also been a prominent activist for the environment and environmental issues. In 2013, Affleck was given the Environmental Media Award due to his vocality towards climate change and pollution. He posts about his eco-positive type of living, while encouraging his followers to do the same and be conscious of how their choices affect the environment.
Also, Mark Ruffalo is a strong renewable energy advocate. He launched the Solutions Project, which is dedicated to promoting clean energy and combating climate change and fracking. The actor uses his platform to inform his fans on these issues and has raised almost $200,000 for Water Defense.

Additionally, she has spearheaded protests in Washington, organized by Fire Drill Fridays—a group she founded to highlight the urgency of the climate crisis. The sight of her being led away in handcuffs by the police remains a powerful and startling image.
