Plains Preservation

America's grasslands are among the most endangered ecosystems in the world. They supply vital resources for society, support an abundance of wildlife species, and store rich carbon reserves beneath their surfaces. Yet, because these temperate grasslands have been so extensively converted to cropland and pastureland over the past century, many scientists fear that America's native grasses may soon disappear entirely.

As their habitats vanish, native wildlife such as Bison are left at risk. Bison are a keystone species in America's grasslands, playing an essential role in keeping the ecosystem healthy and balanced. Without them, we risk losing other wildlife that depend on these open spaces for survival, including many bird and insect species as well as small mammals such as prairie dogs and jackrabbits.

By supporting this project you will help us restore vital native grasses to their natural habitat. Your donation will allow us to create a sanctuary for Bison and other wildlife to thrive.
