Nature plays a vital role in our lives. It provides us with food, water, air, and shelter. It also helps regulate our climate. But human activity is changing the climate, which is threatening the future of nature.
As the climate changes, so does the habitat that animals and plants need to survive. If a species can't adapt to the new conditions, it will die out. We are already seeing this happen with some plant and animal species. For example, as the oceans get warmer, fish are moving to cooler waters elsewhere.
Global research indicates that the world's oceans are heating up. Since the middle of the last century, our oceans have absorbed more than 90 percent of the excess heat trapped by greenhouse gas emissions. To beat the heat, fish are moving toward cooler waters nearer the planet’s two poles. This not only harms biodiversity but also local economies that rely on fishing.
Our goal is to protect and preserve the planet’s biodiversity and natural resources for future generations through research, conservation and restoration projects.
