Restoring St. Edward’s Natural Beauty: Blunn Creek Cleanup

This New Year, The Nature Foundation is searching for dedicated volunteers that are committed to environmental action in 2024. This past weekend, we were fortunate enough to have the assistance of some wonderful volunteers in restoring Blunn Creek on the campus of St. Edward’s University.

As the volunteers arrived at Blunn Creek, they realized they had their work set out for them— trash bags, food wrappers, mattresses, grocery carts, and an assortment of litter covered the creek. They did not let this waver their commitment to create a cleaner and greener campus.

Our volunteers worked hard for several hours to retreive the waste out of the creek. In the end, they collected a total of 8 trash bags and 1 shopping cart, weighing in at 265 pounds of waste collected! The accomplishment of this event demonstrates the strength of unity and collaboration in creating a future that is both sustainable and environmentally friendly for our communities and the planet. The Nature Foundation and St. Edward's Students for Sustainability welcome all environmentally conscious volunteers to join their ongoing endeavors in safeguarding natural habitats, supporting wildlife conservation, and actively engaging in environmental stewardship initiatives. As you can see in the image below, the volunteers completely transformed the state of the creek.
